पर 300 रुपये महीने सैलरी की नौकरी की बता दे की उस कंपनी का नाम था ‘ए. बेस्सी एंड कंपनी’. कंपनी ने धीरूभाई के काम को देखते हुए उन्हें फिलिंग स्टेशन में मैनेजर बनाया था पर कुछ सालो वह नौकरी करने के बाद धीरूभाई साल 1954 में देश वापस आ गए।घर वापसी के बाद 500 रुपये लेकर वह मुंबई चल दिए।
